Our volunteers collect surplus food and essential items, and deliver support where it is most needed.
How Henrietta’s Kitchen Works
We collect surplus food all year round, working with store partners and our volunteers. In summer and winter, we sort and we share surplus food with local residents, families and supported housing. We've increase distributions, and we'd like to thanks our store teams and our community partners for making that happen.
What We Do
Henrietta’s Kitchen combines practical food support with volunteering, partnership working and community connection.
Surplus Food Collections
We collect good-quality surplus food from local retailers and donation partners, helping prevent unnecessary waste.
Community Distribution
Donations are sorted and shared with local residents, families, older people and community organisations.
Volunteers and a local partner help us collect, organise and distribute support safely and respectfully.

Safe and Responsible Delivery
We are committed to delivering Henrietta’s Kitchen safely, responsibly and with respect for everyone we support.
Food Safety and Hygiene.
Our volunteers are trained in safe food handling, and team members hold Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificates. We're also a 5 Star rated service.
Advanced Safeguarding and DBS
We take safeguarding concerns seriously and follow clear reporting procedures. Volunteers are DBS checked where their responsibilities require it.
Through Neighbourly-supported training, we're developing our understanding of AI and digital tools to support communication, planning, website development, and service design. Used responsibly, these tools help us work more effectively, strengthen community engagement, and increase our overall impact.
